Description

North Gate is supporting a an imressive dispute resolution consultancy which offers a range of technical expert witness services to the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors.  It is currently looking for a Structural Engineering Expert Witness to help lead this aspect of their team in London.

They ideally seek someone at Director or Executive Director level, the company has a strong commitment to staff development and this may suit either an established expert witness or an established senior level Structural (Building or Civil) engineer with the experience, qualifications and expertise to be successfully trained and coached as an Expert Witness.

Responsibilities

  • Producing Expert Witness reports in relation to structural engineering matters (civil or building)
  • Providing testimony and strategic advice in relation to disputed projects relating to design
  • Contributing to the strategy and management of the Technical Expert Witness business.
  • Working closely with a diverse team of other Technical experts and consultants.
  • Business Development and Marketing to new and existing clients.
  • Attending and participating in seminars / events

Requirements

  • Ability to, in time manage a small team of forensic structural engineers.
  • Degree qualified and chartered in structural (building or civil) engineering, additional legal qualifications or a willingness to gain these could be helpful but not essential
  • At least part of your experience is likely to have been spent at senior management level within an engineering or design consultancy.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience across a wide range of project/construction types/locations (i.e if building - steel, concrete, timber, glass, GRG, GRP, fabric etc) if civils - telco, rail, utilities, heavy and light civils, roads, bridges, tunnels etc 
  • Excellent technical knowledge, analytical and investigative skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills and use of English language
  • A positive relationship builder, confident handling important work for high profile clients.
  • Someone who has already had exposure as an Expert Witness or understands the court process would be beneficial but not essential, if necessary technical experience is present.
