Forensic Accounting Expert Witness

A growing independent expert witness and dispute resolution consultancy, currently seeks a senior Forensic Accountant at Partner or Director level to help establish and grow their Forensic Accounting and Commercial Damages capability as part of the continued development of the business. This is a rare opportunity for an established or emerging expert to join an entrepreneurial, privately owned consultancy and play a significant role in building a practice rather than simply joining an existing one.
The Role
Working alongside the existing leadership and expert team, you will lead complex forensic accounting and financial dispute assignments across litigation, arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution. Your work is likely to include:
- Commercial damages and loss of profits
- Business and share valuations
- Contentious valuations
- Shareholder and joint venture disputes
- Transaction and warranty disputes
- Business interruption and consequential loss
- Financial investigations and analysis
- Expert determination and other complex accounting disputes
You will take responsibility for assignments from initial scoping and strategy through detailed financial analysis, preparation of expert reports and, where appropriate, giving evidence in arbitration, mediation or court proceedings.
Just as importantly, you will have the opportunity to help shape and grow the forensic accounting practice, developing client relationships, originating opportunities, recruiting and mentoring future team members and helping establish the business further as a recognised provider of high-quality forensic accounting and expert witness services.
The person
We are interested in meeting senior forensic accounting professionals who combine strong technical capability with credibility, commercial awareness and excellent communication skills. You are likely to:
- Be a Chartered Accountant – ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
- Have significant experience in forensic accounting, disputes, damages and/or contentious valuation.
- Have substantial experience preparing or contributing to expert witness reports and complex financial analyses.
- Have experience leading significant litigation or arbitration assignments.
- Be comfortable working directly with law firms, Counsel, corporates and other senior stakeholders.
- Have the ability to communicate complex financial issues clearly, both in writing and verbally.
- Have experience developing and mentoring teams.
- Possess an established network within the legal and disputes community and an appetite to develop new work.
- For a Partner-level appointment, we would expect an established market profile, experience acting as a named/testifying expert and evidence of originating work.
- For a Director-level appointment, we are equally interested in individuals who have developed significant expert witness and disputes experience working alongside established experts and now want the platform, support and opportunity to develop their own profile and appointments.
