Planner - Dispute Resolution

Our client is a global expert witness and dispute resolution consultancy operating across the UK, Europe, Far East, Middle East and America. This organisation provides dispute resolution, claims and expert witness services to a range of construction and engineering clients, which include owners/developers, contractors and law firms across construction, infrastructure, energy and transportation.
A key player in this highly specialist sector, they work on some of the largest and most high profile cases and projects. The team has a particularly strong offering in Delay Analysis with a substantial team of Expert witnesses who specialist in both Delay and Disruption matters. One of the senior experts currently requires an additional person for their team. We are therefore interested in speaking to project planners, with good project / on-site planning experience, who may have had some exposure to claims and disputes on delayed/disrupted projects, and would consider themselves equipped with some of the attributes needed to develop a career in dispute resolution. Full support will be given as well as funding for additional legal qualifications as your experience progresses.
Responsibilities
- Supporting experienced consultants and experts in the provision of high level advice and reports on contentious planning and delay-related matters
- Assessing programs and schedules to identify causes of delay
- Helping to implement project recovery and dispute resolution strategies
- Learning and enhancing knowledge of delay and critical path analysis, claims defence, litigation and arbitration work.
- Supporting expert witnesses on Delay related arbitrations
- Working in teams to deliver assignments on projects in different areas and jurisdictions
Requirements
- Experience of working as a Planner in the building, infrastructure, engineering, power or transportation sector.
- An interest in dispute resolution and construction law.
- Ideally minimum 3 to 5 years experience on site delivering projects as a Planner, Project Manager or Engineer with understanding of programs/schedules.
- Some exposure to claims needed, such as experience of putting EOT claims forward for a contractor and / or looking at programs to identify causes of delay.
- Degree qualified in a technical or engineering discipline and/or chartered.
- Willingness to work toward gaining a Masters degree with relevant support and funded by the company.
- Good IT skills including ideally in planning software such as Primavera/Asta
- Someone with a forensic mind and good attention to detail.
- You should possess excellent written and verbal English language skills.
- A team player with the drive and motivation to want to develop and progress their career working within an exceptional, established team.
