• A) Overseeing several smaller projects (£3-8m),
• B) Sit as resident on one medium project with dual management and responsibility for a nearby smaller site,
• C) Or act as Project Leader on one major project.

Acting as Main Contractor on Heavy Civil Engineering contracts for Power and Energy from Waste projects, often in JV partnership with a process provider. The Client has established their JV partnerships successfully over the past 10 years, and has become one of the contractors of choice within the sector. They are now at a stage which will see turnover in these sectors grow from £50m to £100m in the next 12 months, and more growth expected next year on based conservatively on current pipeline

 

Your role will be working in tandem with the Operations Manager and reporting to the Divisional Director, to lead the Commercial function of the business unit across what will become 5 major projects totaling £250m.

 

The ideal candidate will have fit a profile including:


• Experience as Commercially managing Civil Engineering projects in a Power, Process, or Technology environment, or alternatively one major project with multiple phases/sections and several reporting teams to oversee.
• i.e. Sectors such as: Energy from Waste, Water treatment or Waste Water stations, Power or Sub Stations, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemicals, Oil & Gas etc.

We are working closely with the senior management of a major London residential developer as they seek to identify a new Senior Technical Manager to their busy and growing business. Their current project portfolio ranges from mid-sized housing developments to major high rise schemes up to £200m in value and involve a range of a mix of building types including RC Frame and Traditional frame. Due to a significant ongoing workload they are looking at the internal structure of their technical department and have identified a need to bring in an additional Senior Technical Manager. Reporting to the Technical Director, you will have sole Technical and Design responsibility for one of their flagship London projects, which is likely to be one of two significant c£150m high rise mixed use schemes in early phases of construction in central London.

Responsibilities

•Responsible for the setting and monitoring design and technical parameters on major inner city residential developments up to £200m build.
•Managing and mentoring Technical Co-Ordinators and support staff to high standards and to achieve design milestones
•Maintaining an accurate understanding of the architectural design of developments and that this meets the company’s high standards
•Technically designing and managing schemes with quality, cost effectiveness and buildability of the design firmly in mind.
•Providing technical information to the Technical Director when needed and to support site based operations to a common goal.

Requirements

•Proven experience working in a Technical Management role, ideally with a recognised UK developer, Housebuilder or contractor/developer on major projects >£100m.
•Experience of technically and logistically challenging central London developments essential
•Passionate about construction, residential development and end-user satisfaction
•A team player, someone who can work closely with other senior managers for the good of the business and project
•A strong understanding of technical requirements and up to date regulations on major London residential developments.

•Qualifications or early career should stem from Architecture / Engineering / Construction.
•Someone organised with an ability to work on own initiative and collectively with other members of a 1st class management team.
